To be honest, it's one of my favorite mods to date and everything from the quality of materials to its outstanding performance make me recommend it to anyone looking for a true cloud chasing machine. My experience with it has been fabulous right from the start and I'm sure it's going to be my 'go to mod' for months to come. Our Review On The Volcano Lavabox DNA 200 Mod
One of the most powerful and well-built mods I've tested in 2015, the Volcano Lavabox 200 is a thing of beauty and its performances are outstanding. Made from superior grade 6061-billet aluminum and powered by a removable 3-cell 900mAh LiPo battery, the Lavabox boasts EVOLV's latest DNA 200 chip, which has been engineered to perfection. Designed in Hawaii, US this bad boy can deliver up to 200W of pure vaping power and it can also work with Nickel and Titanium coils for one of the most accurate temperature control experiences.
You can get the Lavabox DNA 200 as a bundle kit, with Volcano's Tube Tank Pro and a bottle of their delicious e-liquid, but also separately to match it with one of your sub ohm temperature control tanks, RDAs or RTAs. It comes packed in a black cardboard box and inside you will find the mod itself, a very comprehensive user's manual, a micro-USB charging cable and a 1A wall adapter. The device feels incredibly solid and the build quality is more than impressive. It comes with a black grip out of the box, but you can also buy these in white, blue or red to match any of your tanks. I'm a big fan of this futuristic design and the fact that you can change the rubberized plastic grips is a big plus.
On the top side of the Volcano Lavabox DNA 200 we have a stainless steel 510 connector with some pretty cool air channels and an adjustable center pin that's gold plated. The main side of the mod is covered with a tinted, glossy, transparent plastic surface that covers the HD OLED operating screen. On the top we have the firing button, then we have the display, then the two plus/minus adjustment buttons and finally the micro-USB charging port. On the base there are venting holes for the internal battery and the grips are fixed to the body through four tiny Philips head screws. Once you remove the grip, to get access to the internal battery you will need take out the two extra screws holding the cover in place.
As I mentioned earlier, the internal battery is a LiPo model rated at 900mAh and depending on your vaping preferences it might provide enough power to get you through a whole day (at around 25-30W). If you vape it at more than 45W then you might just get as high as 6-7 hours out of it. The reason for the small capacity battery is due to the maximum continuous output current of 50A that this beast can deliver. It can go from 1W all the way up to 200W in 0.1W increments and from 200°F - 600°F in temperature control mode. It measures roughly 45mm x 28.mm x 95mm and because of the chamfered edges surrounding the display it's an absolute pleasure to hold and use.
EVOLV's DNA 200 chip comes with an upgradeable firmware and you can easily update it via the EScribe software. It's one of the top boards on the market today and the temperature control experience is by far one of the best I've got the chance to test. The mod also comes with eight user profiles that can be easily customized with the same software (you can set both a wattage and temperature individually for each of these).
