At first glance the Smoant Cylon TC 218 might seem like the poor man's SX Mini G-Class, but it's so much more than that. Smoant invests a lot of money in research and development and their products are a testimony of performance and quality. Responsive chips, top quality materials, excellent temperature control and very affordable. All of the mods we tested from them have completely blown us away and this bad boy is no exception.
Extremely good chip
Impressive performance
Beautiful display
A bit on the bulky side
The all new Ant218 v2 chip
With their latest mod Smoant decided to update their chip. The new Ant218 v2 is a lot faster, with a response time of 0.015 seconds. The chip is also upgradeable and offers superior quality and an incredible vaping experience overall.
What you get with the Cylon 218 mod
The Smoant Cylon TC 218 comes packed in a very nice white presentation box. Inside you will find the mod itself, a user manual, warranty card and micro-USB cable. The device is available in two colors – black and tarnish and the build quality is just amazing for this price tag.
Size, weight and design
It measures 90mm x 47mm x 32mm and weighs around 190g without batteries. You will need two high drain 18650 cells to power up this 218W champ. For best results we recommend going for a reputable brand like Sony or LG.
On top of the Smoant Cylon TC 218 we have a beefy 510 connector with a spring loaded center pin. It will accommodate atomizers with diameters between 22mm – 30mm and this is a massive pro. The fire button is placed on the side, while the display, adjustment buttons and micro-USB slot on the front. The battery door is on the base and it has that nice slide to unlock mechanism. Everything feels durable and well-built. The body is made from zinc alloy, with a classy leather finish.
The display and menu system are really nice
To enter the menu you need to press the fire button for three consecutive times. The lovely 1.3 inch color display is a pleasure to work with and everything is quite intuitive. You can adjust the type of boost in variable wattage mode and there is also a VW curves option. Temperature control includes presets for Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel and here too we have a TC curves option. Minimum resistance is 0.1 Ohms for regular power mode and 0.05 Ohms for TC mode.
There are two types of users interfaces on the Smoant Cylon TC 218. The first one will just show a changeable wallpaper underneath the adjustable settings and menu. The second one is way more interesting and looks like the flight instruments from a fighter jet's cockpit. One thing we like is that you can fully adjust the wattage in TC mode. We recommend checking out the manual for all available shortcuts.
Smoant Cylon: Performance and final words
Performance wise, the Smoant Cylon TC 218 is one of the best mods we tried so far and one we totally recommend. It's incredible what you get for this price tag and it works with all diameter atomizers. The 218W output is more than enough for anyone from beginner to pro and the chip is ultra-responsive. Apart from its size and weight we didn't find any cons. It's a great device and one of our personal favorites.
