Tesla XT mod: Design and main features

The Tesla XT 220W is not to company's first steampunk inspired box mod. We might even argue that this is an improved version of the original Tesla Punk. In fact it's smaller than its predecessor but comes with the most beautiful LED lights. The body is made from solid Zinc Alloy and the build quality is well above the price range.

The device measures 80mm x 52mm x 24mm and weighs 220g without cells. It has a spring loaded 510 connector on top and it can accommodate atties up to 24mm in diameter without overhang. In addition, the fire button, on/off button, display, adjustment buttons and micro-USB port are all placed on the main side.

To access the battery compartment you need to slide and unlock the door on the bottom, and this time they used a hinge. The device works with 18650, 20700 or 21700 high drain cells. When using 20700 or 21700 the sleeves need to be removed.

The Tesla XT has a solid, metallic back with the 'XT' logo on the center. Consequently the front of the device is made from clear polycarbonate and it's one of its key design points. The see-through panel hides 5 LED lights which give the mod its unique appearance.

The board and LEDs

This mod is powered by a highly responsive Tesla developed board. It features variable wattage between 7W – 220W and a maximum output voltage of 7.5V. Additionally, the maximum allowed current is 50W and minimum resistance in TC mode is 0.05 Ohms.

There are three pre-heat options: Normal, Soft, and Hard and there's even a fully customizable 'User' preset. Temperature range is 200 – 600F and works with Ni200, Titanium and SS316.

To customize LED colors just keep the fire and up buttons pressed at the same time to cycle through the various options. You can choose from three multiple color schemes as well as single color presets: Blue, Red, Green, or Purple. There's even an option to turn them off completely, and this is a big pro for those who don't like the feature.

Performance and final words on the Tesla XT vape

The Tesla XT 220W TC is one of the most beautiful mods we tested in 2018 and definitely a big improvement over the original Punk model. It's easy to use, intuitive, powerful and comes with some of the bet-looking LED lights on the market. The board is accurate and features all the temperature control presets you will ever need. Battery life is outstanding, especially when using big 21700 cells.

The only con we found is that the mod only looks nice with 24mm atomizers on top. And while this diameter is one of the most popular at the moment, it would have been great to use 28 – 30mm RDAs too.
