What's inside the SteamCloud packaging
The SteamCloud Box Mod comes packed in a beautiful black travel pouch. Inside you will find the device itself, a battery, a micro-USB cable, and the user manual. It's only available in one color and the travel pouch is a nice bonus for when you want to take the mod with you on trips or vacations.
We enjoyed the minimalist design
The SteamCloud mod is a high quality not only intended for herbs but it also turns into a wax and concentrates vape. You can also use with just about any 22mm sub ohm tank, just note that maximum output is 40W. The device measures 62mm x 33.5mm x 22mm and weighs 75 grams. It's incredibly small and compact and fits the palm of your hand perfectly.
It is made from top quality metal and the brushed finish gives it that high-end vibe. Has a spring loaded 510 connector on top and the buttons, display and charge port on the main side. Battery door is located on the back and it's held in place with magnets. The device doesn't rattle and feels very sturdy.
What we didn't like about the Steamcloud, is the front plastic display panel. When removing the screen protector the menu plate came loose. It's not a big problem since it does not affect the vaping experience at all. It's just a bit disappointing since it takes away some of the cool-points it received before for its stealthy looks.
If this ever happens to your SteamCloud, the NY vape shop will gladly replace it.
The battery – tiny and replaceable
Powering the SteamCloud Box Mod is a tiny 18350 battery, rated at 1300mAh. The battery is replaceable so you can always buy extras. This is particularly useful when traveling so you don't always need to plug it in.
The device goes from 1 – 40W and if you're using it close to its max output battery life is not that great. However, most pre-filled oil cartridges, dry herb atomizers and wax accessories only require up to half the wattage and this is where the SteamCloud absolutely shines. We managed to get a full day with a cartridge for CBD vape oil and it performed flawlessly.
Main features of the SteamCloud
The SteamCloud Box Mod is essentially a variable wattage vape that also features temperature control. Output is between 1 – 40W and maximum current is 20A. It will fire down to 0.1 Ohms, which is very impressive considering the size of this device. Temperature control range is between 200 – 600F.
The 0.49-inch display is practical, crisp and shows info about current wattage, operating mode, atomizer resistance and battery status.
As safety features the device offers short circuit protection, low resistance protection, temperature protection, low voltage protection and overload protection. Five clicks of the fire button to turn the device on or off and the menu system is very intuitive.
SteamCloud Mod: Performance and conclusions
When it comes to performance the SteamCloud Box Mod does not disappoint. It offers remarkable power considering its tiny size and 1300mAh battery and fires instantly. Works with any oil cartridge, dry herb atty or concentrates attachment and it's super stealthy. You can also use with e-liquid tanks, which makes it highly versatile. We recommend getting at least two extra batteries so that you will never run out of juice.
