Stylish doesn't often go hand in hand with affordable but the Eleaf Basal kit is about to change this once and for all. This classy mouth to lung combo delivers impressive vapor quality and flavor and looks gorgeous. At little over $40 it's one of the nicest surprises of 2018 and something we totally recommend checking out.

The kit which surpassed our expectations
We didn't have high expectations when we first found this in our mailbox but once we opened it up and put it to the test it completely blew our minds. It's a really well built mod, with a beautiful finish and a retro style tank packed with flavor.
What you get with the Basal
The Eleaf Basal kit comes packed in a white cardboard presentation box. Inside you will find the mod, the GS Basal tank fitted with the 0.75 Ohm coil, a spare 1.5 Ohm coil, micro-USB cable, spare seal, and the user manual. The product is available in three different colors - gold, rose gold and brushed silver - and it's great for both male and female vapers.
Basal: Design and main features
The Basal mod measures 76mm x 37mm x 15mm and weighs around 120 grams. The finish is brushed on three sides and vinyl record shaped on the fourth. The edges are rounded and this makes the device feel comfortable and natural in the hand when vaping. It has a 510 connector on top and the buttons and display on the main side. Micro-USB port is placed on the base and features fast 2A charging.
Wattage range on this compact box mod is between 1W – 30W and it can fire down to 0.6 Ohms. It's powered by an internal 1500mAh battery and this is more than enough for these types of coils. You can easily get a full day of vaping on a full charge, even more if you use the 1.5 Ohm atomizer.
The GS Basal tank is a great match
The GS Basal tanks supplied with the Eleaf Basal kit has a height of 57mm and a diameter of 15mm. It's built from stainless steel and Pyrex glass and pairs great with the mod. Total capacity is 1.8ml and the airflow is easily adjustable. Has plenty of presets and can be set from a very tight mouth to lung draw to a pretty loose one, depending on style.
The coils are also a nice surprise, especially the 0.75 Ohm version. This delivers really good vapor and flavor and you can vape it without issues even at 27 – 28 Watts. The 1.5 Ohm atomizers have milder flavor and vapor but they are great for maximum battery life. These are best used at around 15W – 17W.
Performance and final words on the Basal vape
The Eleaf Basal kit is a really impressive product and it's particularly great for beginners. It's also a very nice starter kit for the ladies and it comes in the most appealing colors. Flavor is spot on, vapor quality is perfect for a mouth to lung device and battery life is enough to last you a full day. It may not be as powerful as the VooPoo Mojo vape but nevertheless gets the job done.
The only downside is the bottom filled tank, which needs to be removed from the mod when refilling with e-liquid. But all in all this is a great kit, which fits inside any pocket or purse and weighs in total little over 160 grams.
