You will receive your Exceed vape inside a standard cardboard presentation box. Apart from the battery and tank, we have a micro-USB cable, a bag of spares, as well as an extra coil. The coils come in different colors so there’s no confusion. The silver head is for mouth to lung use while the gold one is for direct lung draws.

The bag of spare includes an extra glass section, replaceable O-rings and seals. You also receive the user manual, the warranty card as well as a quick guide on priming the coils and adjusting the airflow.

Design and features of the Exceed D19 kit

The Exceed D19 starter kit is comprised of a battery and a tank. The assembled device has a total height of 118mm, a diameter of 19mm and weighs around 75g. It is very petite, lightweight and fits nicely in the hand.

The battery has a 510 connector on top and an over-sized power button just below. The outer shell is made from lightweight aluminum and has a nice brushed or matte finish.

Surrounding the 510 connector we have a transparent plastic insert, that is back-lit. This acts as the notification LED light, which shows selected power mode as well as the remaining charge.

Two operating modes: direct output / constant voltage

The Joyetech Exceed D19 stater kit offers two operating modes: direct output and constant voltage. In order to switch between modes you need to turn off your device. Then hold the fire button for a couple of seconds until the LED light changes color. A white light means you are in direct output mode, while an orange light means you’re in constant voltage mode.

Direct output is when the quantity of vapor decreases as soon as the battery starts to drain. Constant voltage mode will offer the same vapor production all throughout the charge.

But, to be honest, we haven’t seen such a dramatic difference between the two modes, especially when using the mouth to lung coil. Vapor production is consistent only until the charge reaches around 50% and then starts to diminish regardless of operating mode.

A more than capable sub ohm tank

With this kit you receive the Exceed D19 tank, which is an impressive 2.0ml performer. It’s the ideal tank for any beginner and it’s a big improvement over the Joyetech eGo AIO Eco. There are no leaks, the coils don’t get flooded and the airflow adjustment is perfect for any type of vaper. It doesn't offer that loose draw compatible with high wattage, but then again the 0.5 Ohm coils don’t go higher than 35W.

The top fill system works like a charm, however we recommend having the airflow holes fully closed during this procedure.

Performance and final words on the Joyetech Exceed D19

The Joyetech Exceed D19 is an excellent eliquid pen starter kit for vaping beginners. It offers an adjustable draw, that’s compatible with mouth to lung and direct lung inhales. The tank features top fill and delivers on par flavor and vapor. It’s very easy to use, easy to recharge and battery life can easily last the whole day.

The only con we found is with the top cap/top fill. The threads are made from plastic, which means they are not going to last for a very long time. But as long as you are careful when taking it off and putting it back on, you won’t have any issues.
