Our Review On The Aspire Atlantis 2 Tank

Sub-ohm tanks are no longer a novelty, but we are pretty sure that without names like Aspire or Kanger the industry would have looked a lot different today. The original Atlantis tank was a huge success and it’s still one of the best performing accessories on the market today, but just wait until you take a closer look at it’s bigger brother.

The Aspire Atlantis 2 comes with newly designed Organic Cotton Coils, 3ml e-liquid capacity and a lot more personality when it comes to producing huge clouds of vapor. We received ours a couple of days ago and we were so excited to test it that we lost track of time and went home at almost 9 PM that night. But enough chitchat, let’s take a closer look at this improved tank that’s becoming legendary.

The new Atlantis comes packed in a transparent hard plastic case and inside you will find a fully assembled tank and a spare atomizer head. The coils have been greatly improved, with 4 wicking holes instead of two, Japanese organic cotton and a huge airflow shaft. Inside the tank you get a 0.3 Ohm coil and the spare one is rated at 0.5 Ohms. We also noticed you can even buy the 1.0 Ohm coils separately as well as these two versions. The 0.3 Ohm atomizer is designed to be used up to 70-80W, the 0.5 Ohm version up to 30W and the 1.0 Ohm version up to 40-50W.

The Aspire Atlantis 2 is made from the same top quality stainless steel as its predecessor, the walls are made from Pyrex glass but as a small con, you don’t get an extra tube inside the box. You can, however, buy replacements at any respectable vape shop. Another thing worth talking about is the airflow system – and we have to say this tank has the best airflow from all of the products that we have tested so far. You can use the tank in two ‘settings’: the first is by having two massive 9x2.6mm elliptical air slots, one on each side and adjusting the ring to gradually cover them or leave them open and the second is by having a 2.8mm hole on one side and a 6x2.6mm elliptical air slot on the other side, which you can also gradually cover or leave wide open. We are not quite sure what is the purpose for having two types of airflow adjustment slots but either way, the tank works fantastic and it allows for the most perfect full lung hits.

A novelty about the Aspire Atlantis 2 is the unique drip tip that’s also fitted with four air holes. If you have ever vaped on a sub-ohm tank then you’ve probably noticed the vapor getting pretty hot at high wattages. Well, the engineers at Aspire have figured out a way for you to enjoy the same whopping clouds but with a cooler vapor thanks to the new airflow system at the top. The four holes are located on the rim of the upper chimney and they match four holes drilled in the drip tip itself. If you leave them closed it’s like vaping on any regular tank, but once you open them there’s a huge improvement in vapor temperature. Oh, and by the way, because of this you won’t be able to use the Atlantis 2 with your personal drip tip and are stuck with the one that comes inside the box. However, it’s totally worth it!

To refill the new Aspire tank you simply have to unscrew the base and there’s plenty of room to pour that e-liquid around the chimney. The 3.0ml capacity is going to ensure a better autonomy than on the original Atlantis, but even so, this beast can go through e-liquid like a steam engine goes through coal.

In order to use it at its maximum capacity you are going to need an advanced personal vaporizer that goes up to 100W, but it also works great with more moderate devices in the 30-50W margin. The build quality is exceptional, flavor is amazing, the clouds are dazzling and the price is great. This is probably going to become 2015’s best-selling tank!
