For a budget dry herb vaporizer, the Utillian 420 is quite impressive. It looks very sleek with that flask design and it performs way above its price range. It’s one of our favorite entry level devices in this category and something we had the chance to test for over five weeks. Build quality is great, display is crisp and the button is very responsive

Ease of use
The Utillian 420 is available in three different colors - silver, black and titanium. The anodized metallic finish feels pretty high end and we really appreciate they didn’t use plastic. The body is prone to scratches so you will need to be careful not to place it in the same pocket as your keys or coins.
A look at the Design
This vaporizer comes packet in a minimalist cardboard box with a beautiful design. Inside you will find the unit, the oven screens, a charging cable, a packing tool, and a silicone mouthpiece heat shield. The heat shield is a really nice touch. It prevents burning your lips when vaping at the maximum temperature.
The Utillian 420 looks like a small flask and measures 115 x 50 x 25mm. Its rounded rectangular shape makes the device feel comfortable in the hand. Having a single button it’s very easy to use. The weight distribution in this device feels akward. It feels more heavy towards the top, it can easily fall over if you’re not careful.
On top of the vape we have a glass mouth piece which we liked since it's the most hygienic material. The hidden simple display is practically invisible when not turned on.
The oven is just under the mouthpiece and it’s made from ceramic. The fire button is placed on the side and has a nice tactile feedback. The heat shield goes over the bottom part of the mouthpiece and really increases the overall stealthiness. On the bottom of the device there a compartment for the mouthpiece. It’s pretty ingenious, however the glass piece does rattle a bit inside.
Powering up the Utillian - It's temp presets
The Utillian 420 has four temperature presets. They are only displayed in Celsius but you can generally think about them as steps. You can choose between 190C, 200C, 210C, and 220C. We mostly enjoyed steps 3 and 4 and it takes literally seconds for the device to reach a certain temperature. The battery is non-removable but it’s enough to last between 40 - 60 minutes.
Since this is a conduction vaporizer you will need to fill the chamber with finely ground botanical. A ceramic or aluminum grinder works best. Then five clicks to turn the device on and it will automatically heat up to the last temperature preset. To change your setting just keep the button pressed for a couple of seconds and cycle through all four.
Our final words
In terms of performance the Utillian 420 is a great vaporizer for beginners. You really get a lot for your bucks considering its under a $100 price. The weight distribution or ratio, in this device feels awkward. It's very top heavy and it seems like you're carrying a vape with some extra material stuck to its bottom. Other than that this device has a great build quality. The conduction heating operates as expected. The glass mouthpiece keeps vapor cool and flavorsome. It’s also a very portable device, since you can store the mouthpiece inside the vape and the design is well thought-trough. Apart from the Celsius only temperature presets we couldn’t find any more mention able cons. Flavor is excellent and vapor production is pretty standard for an entry level vape.
