Like in many cases of these variable voltage/variable devices, performance really depends on the type of atomizer you use and your personal preferences. We found it performing quite decently and it delivers good quality vapor for this price tag. However, it’s not going to sweep you of your feet, so if you’re an experienced vaper that is familiar with AVPs perhaps you’ll need to search further. Nevertheless, for a beginner, the Tesla might just be the best way to familiarize with the interesting world of advanced personal vaporizers.
With a very unique and bold design, the Tesla is an outstanding piece of engineering and one of the bestselling advanced personal vaporizers on the market today. It is a very solid and powerful mod that uses an 18650 battery and makes up for its rather long appearance with the outstanding performance it delivers. It is crafted from a high quality lightweight aluminum alloy and is designed with fully rounded corners and a great grip architecture to ensure a perfectly balanced mod that fits perfectly in your hand.
NOTE: This Tesla device had been discontinued. Check out our page with the best boxmod devices. You should be able to find a similar box mod.
The Tesla comes in a regular cardboard box with a big picture of the device on the front and inside you will find (besides the mod) everything you need to start vaping immediately: a DCT tank with carto, a replacement carto, a manual, a nice battery charger, and two 18650 2200 mAh 3.7V LIMn batteries. This makes it an excellent choice for beginners because you don’t have to spend the extra bucks on accessories and all you need is a bottle of e-liquid lying around.
The Tesla is a variable voltage/ variable wattage advanced personal vaporizer. The voltage can be set anywhere from 3.0 to 6.0 volts in 0.1 Volt increments and wattage is adjustable between 3.0 and 15.0 in 0.5 Watt increments. It also comes with a good quality OLED display that features scrolling text and a very good outdoor readability in those sunny days. The circuit is rated at 3 amps, higher than most devices of its class (which usually have a 2.5 amp limit) and you will be able to use it with any build higher than 1.2 ohms. We recommend you to stick with 1.3 if you’re into low ohm vaping and not cross this line just to keep things on the safe side.
As opposed to other similar tube mods, battery ventilation is no problem with the Tesla, this device having three long vent holes on its body, each one being half the length of the tube. The holes are cut along each of three matching flat surfaces designed into the tube. The device features both is 510 and eGo compatible threading, however since the compartment size is small it makes it incompatible with the larger sized tanks on the market. Nevertheless, this doesn’t come as a deal breaker, at least not for us and the good news is that the connection has a floating center pin, allowing a flush mount.
The Tesla has three operating buttons, two of which are the small (+) and (-) located above the display. Because they are located above the LCD and the firing button on the back of the body, when you’ll go through the settings you’ll get your thumb all over the screen, blocking you view and getting a lot of fingerprints on. This is something you’ll get used to once you starting using the mod regularly but in our opinion, placing the smaller buttons under the screen would have eliminated this problem.
