Pioneer4you products, and especially the IPV series have made a serious contribution to the vaping industry we enjoy today and it has been a while since we tested any of their products. And because we had some free time, we decided to open the iPV Mini 2 box and take a look at what comes inside for the purpose of making a review. The iPV Mini 2 Box Mod is, as the name says, the younger and smaller brother of the high powered monster known as the 150 Watt IPV 3 and the older brother of the original IPV Mini. It’s compact but sturdy and very well built and it is powered by the YiHi SX330V2C chip.
The iPV Mini 2 Box Mod comes packed in a cardboard box with a sketch of the mod printed on the top, and inside you can find the mod, the user’s manual and a charging micro-USB cable. The first thing you will notice about it is the compact form factor and the ease of fitting perfectly in your hand. In terms of size and look, the version 2 doesn’t come with so many differences as opposed to the initial 35W version, besides the bottom battery cap that has different knurling.
On the top side you can see the 510 connection with a floating ping (don’t mind the small groove and don’t try to adjust it) and four slots for bottom airflow feeding tanks or clearomizers. On the bottom there’s the battery cap (fitted with 6 venting holes) and the micro-USB charging port and on the main side there are the three operating buttons and the OLED display. To power on the device you will need to press 5 consecutive times on the firing button and notice the welcome splash screen.
One thing that’s a bit tricky on the iPV Mini 2 is the functionality of the (+) / (-) or Up / Down buttons because when you power on the device and want to increase the wattage, if you press the (+) / Up button, this will get you in memory mode and you can choose from five different pre-defined settings. So the proper way of adjusting the wattage is to first press the (-) / Down button once and then use both buttons to scroll through the whole watt range. And by the way, this particular mod goes from 5.0W up to 70W in 0.1W increments and it does dome come with an accelerator. The display indicates the current wattage, output voltage, atomizer resistance and remaining battery. It can be locked by pressing both small buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds.
The small box mod is powered by a single 18650 battery and because it has a current limit of 30A we recommend using a high drain battery 
like the Sony VTC5 or something similar. It can work with atomizer builds as low as 0.2 Ohms and as high as 3.0 Ohms. It has low voltage protection, high input voltage warning and low resistance protection. You also have the ability to change the predefined wattage settings by selecting one from the memory, adjusting the value to one of your choice and then pressing the firing button once for the display to get dimmed.
