What you get with the Hydrology 9 vaporizer
The Hydrology9 dry herb vape comes neatly packed. Inside the black presentation box you fill find the device itself, a charging cable and AC adapter, a cleaning kit and the user manual. With the cleaning kit you get a small brush, a longer brush, and two different style packing tools.
These are hard tools for serious cleaning, unlike some of the other accessories we've seen with other vapes.
The design of this revolutionary dry herb vape
The Hydrology 9 from Cloudious 9 is one of a kind. It’s shaped like a cylinder and it’s made from high quality aluminum and borosilicate glass. The device consists of seven individual components and they all fit together perfectly. Starting from the top we have the magnetic cover for the mouthpiece.
Then we have the mouthpiece itself which is made from glass and it’s pretty wide. It's also thicker than on other devices and very easy to clean. The body includes the water filtration tube section and it’s covered by a glass tube. Next we have the battery section, which also incorporates the board and internal circuits. And last but not least we have the bottom placed porcelain chamber and the cap with the built-in stirring tool.
On one hand we really liked the fact that you can shuffle the herbs during sessions, without having to take the cap off.
On the other hand, were a bit surprised about the size of the oven. For a device this big, it clearly has a very small chamber.
How to use the Hydrology9 dry herb vape
To fill up the Hydrology9 dry herb vaporizer with water you need to unscrew the mouthpiece from the body and use the dedicated ports. For best results we recommend filling up the reservoir up to 60 - 70%. Then put the vape back together and screw everything nice and snug. Just make sure you don't over-tighten since the glass feels quite fragile.
The great thing about this vaporizer is that it does not leak. We never encountered any traces of water during our tests and the metal has been anodized to prevent rust.
To fill the chamber with grinded dry botanical you first need to remove the bottom cap. This cap comes with an incorporated stirring tool, which - as we mentioned before - is a big pro in our books. Simply turn the dial at the bottom and it will make sure your material gets vaporized evenly.
Once everything is ready, press the button three consecutive times to turn the device on. Then select your desired head cycle by pressing the button once as it shows the different colors. Blue is the lowest temperature setting while red is the highest.
It takes anywhere between 20 - 60 seconds for the Hydrology9 herbal vaporizer to reach the selected temperature. Once it does, the LED light will turn solid green. This is when you can take long pulls from the mouthpiece and enjoy that crisp flavor.
The battery and charger
The Cloudious Hydrology9 measures 175mm in height and has a base diameter of 45mm. The unit is powered by a 2000mAh built-in battery and features pretty good autonomy. It’s more than enough to last at least for about 6-8 sessions at the highest temperature. You can take it even further if you enjoy vaping on lower heat cycles. Since this is a conduction heating vaporizer, battery life is definitely not an issue.
It takes around 4h to get the battery fully charged, and the both the charger and cable are proprietary.
The fire button is OK, but we expected something bigger and more impressive.
Performance and overall thoughts on the Hydrology9 vaporizer
The Hydrology9 dry herb vaporizer from Cloudious is an impressive piece of engineering. From its futuristic design to the smooth and rich vapor production, it’s definitely a product we recommend to savvy vapers. It’s not beginner material since it’s a bit tricky to use and requires some experience.
The main cons we found are: It’s pretty bulky, takes long to recharge and can easily roll off the table if you’re not careful. Other than that, get ready to enjoy some of the best clouds in this category without the slightest hint of harshness.
