The Arizer Solo 2 is the type of vaporizer that is designed to impress. After reviewing and testing the Solo 2 we can confidently say that their slogan "better by design" is rightfully theirs. Everything from build quality to its exceptional performance is absolutely mind blowing. Even the box it comes in is nothing like we've seen before. Not to mention the battery, which is able to withstand up to three hours of constant use.
Great vapor production
Pure flavor
Glass chamber and mouthpiece
Precise temperature control
Proprietary charger and port
It's missing the curved tube from the initial model
This device has a revolutionary way of heating up the dry herb mixture and uses borosilicate glass tubes for the cleanest and most intense flavor. It's perfect for solo use but also works great for shared sessions, especially since it features two loading chambers.
What you get with the Solo 2 vaporizer
The Arizer Solo 2 comes packed in one of the biggest boxes you'll ever see on a portable dry herb vaporizer. This is all black and has a nice color picture of the device on top. Inside this multi layered box you will find the Solo2, the wall charger, a 90mm glass tube, a 110mm glass tube, and an aromatherapy glass recipient. You also get a belt-clip carry case, two silicone caps, four stainless steel screens, a stirring tool, a sample bag of lavender and the user manual.
The Solo II is available in two colors – Carbon Black and Mystic Blue and both look really nice. We received the blue one.
The design – A perfect balance between portability and power
The Arizer Solo 2 is similar in shape and size to the original Solo, but greatly improved in terms of technology. The vaporizer now features a beautiful display and three adjustment buttons on the front rather than those old LED lights. The battery has also been upgraded and now the device can deliver up to 3 hours of use.
The heating chamber is placed on top and it's covered by a rubber cap. It comes with two borosilicate glass tubes – a longer one and a shorter one – however it doesn't have that curved tubed we loved on the original model. You can still buy it separately, but we would have loved to see it inside the box.
The charge port is placed on the back, but same as on the first Solo this device doesn't feature micro-USB. Instead it uses its own proprietary connector and wall adapter to recharge the battery. Good news is that it comes with pass-through technology, which means you can still use it while it's plugged in. From our knowledge the battery is rated at 3400mAh and that's why it takes around 2.5h to get it fully charged.
Main features of the Arizer Solo 2
The Arizer Solo 2 combines convection and conduction heating to bring you one of the most unique dry herb experiences ever. Each of the two glass tubes features a small chamber at the base which needs to be filled up with grinded up flower. Make sure you don't pack it too tight so that the hot air can still pass through it. We've also seen people shoving tiny buds inside and vaping them without any issues.
Temperature can be fully adjustable in one degree increments between 50C – 220C. You can also adjust screen brightness, start-up delay, the loudness of the notification sound and the units from Celsius to Fahrenheit. The display shows remaining battery life, set temperature and current temperature. It will show an animation while the vaporizer heats up and notify you with a short beep and a smiley face once the process has completed.
Heat up times are incredibly fast and it usually takes around 30 seconds for the device to reach temperature. There is a small delay, however, until it delivers full power, and that’s why it's best to take a shorter draw at first.
Performance and final words on the Solo 2 vape
The Arizer Solo 2 is one of the most impressive portable vaporizers for dry herb we ever got the chance to test. The combination between convection and conduction ensures uniform distribution of heat and prevents hot spots. Flavor and vapor production are off the charts with this one and it's comparable to something you usually get from a Davinci IQ or a Firefly 2 device.
Heat up times are very fast, temperature control is precise and easy to use and battery life is outstanding. The long glass mouthpiece helps cool down the vapor, however it's not as cool as on some of the more expensive devices out there.
The chambers are easy to fill with dry herb material and the oven doesn't require cleaning after each session. Overall it's a high-end vaporizer that performs flawlessly and one we definitely recommend.
