Vape pens make very popular starter kits for good reason. They are easy to use, easy to refill and they offer good value. You can also find them in various sizes and designs like the tiny Bug Mini or the bulky Rebel 3. Thus, depending on their design, they can be easily suited for different types of users and vaping styles. But before we go any further, first let's cover some of the basics about these simple vape pens:
4 VAPE PEN FACTS
- No display? No problem! The power button is your only friend
Vape pens are some of the most easy to use vaporizers and their main characteristic is the one button operation. This means you don't have to worry about adjusting the wattage or voltage. The device will automatically set the output power depending on the type of coil you're using. Just five clicks to power them on and you're ready to vape. In many cases the button will have some type of LED light. This usually acts as an indicator for the battery or for issues with the coil. It will change color as the charge drops and it will flash when there's a problem with the device itself;
- Hitting 40% battery juice? Bye, bye big clouds
Many vape pens are unregulated, which means the quantity of vapor will diminish gradually as the battery goes under 30-40%. This is normal and it doesn't mean there's something wrong with the device or the coil. It's just the way these vaporizers work.
- Can you mix and match tanks? Yes, you can
As long as the tank is removable from the battery and you can find a different one of the same diameter and same range of coil resistance, then you can totally swap them. The device will automatically adjust power according to the type of coil and you'll enjoy your new tank in no time.
- Never compare devices
Mouth to lung vaping is so much different from direct lung vaping in terms of power usage. Therefore you should never compare battery capacities on two different devices unless they include same resistance coils. A 2500mAh pen running a 0.3 Ohm coil will not last longer than a 1500mAh battery running a 1.8 Ohm coil. The only difference is in the amount of vapor these devices deliver.
4 TIPS FOR VAPE PEN CLOUD CHASING
- VG is important
For mouth to lung type vape pens try to use a maximum of 70/30 VG/PG e-liquid. For devices with 0.2 – 0.4 Ohm coils you can go as high as 80/20 VG/PG as long as you don't chain vape.
- Priming
Always make sure to properly prime the coils if you want to greatly increase their lifespan and enjoy a dry hit free experience. Instructions are usually found in the user manual or guide that comes with the kit.
- Tighten and keep tidy
If the fire button blinks indicating a short circuit or a problem with the atomizer you can try a simple approach. Thoroughly clean the connectors on both the battery and the tank, and then replace the coil with a new one. Make sure you tighten it securely into its place.
- And the reason for burning trough coils is...
If you are constantly burning through coils at a fast pace and get dry hits you're probably using too thick e-liquid, like max VG. On the other hand, if the coil gets flooded repeatedly then you're probably using a very thin e-liquid, like max PG.
