Packaging and presentation

Considering the $49 price tag, this vaporizer really feels high end. You will get inside a chic cardboard gift box and there are two color options to choose from. Included with the Perl Pod vape is a micro-USB charging cable, the refillable pod with silicone mouthpiece, and the user manual.

The device looks stunning in either black or white and it’s intended to be used with nic salts or 9 - 12mg freebase e-liquids.

One thing you should be aware of is the price for spare pods. A 2-pack sells for around $15 and this is really expensive. However, since these pods use ceramic coils, they will last a lot longer than traditional atomizers. You will be able to refill each unit for at least 15 times, and they usually show a drop in performance only after 2 - 3 weeks.

Perl Pod starter kit design and features

The Perl Pod mod has a streamlined design that’s elegant and ergonomic. It measures 100mm x 49mm x 24mm and it’s made from a combination of PC plastic and zinc alloy.This makes the device feel lightweight and glossy, however the long term resistance is a bit questionable.

A pod vape with buton-less design

The most unique feature of this pod vape is its button less appearance. It has a tough sensor on the bottom that turns the device on or off and lets you adjust the intensity of the output. Just tap the region for three consecutive times and an LED indicator light will let you know it’s ready to puff. This LED shows green when the battery is above 50%. As the charge drops to under 25% it will turn yellow, and then finally red when it’s time to recharge.

To adjust the intensity of the pods vape just tap the device slowly after it was turned on. This way you can select one of the three power levels, indicated by LEDs.

Battery life and refillable pods

The Perl Pod system is powered by an internal battery rated at 1150mAh. This is much bigger than the competition and puts it in the same league as the Aspire Gusto mini vape. It’s more than enough for a full day at the office and recharges usually take less than 1h.

The refillable Perl pods have a magnetic connector at the bottom and a silicone mouthpiece on the top. To fill them up with e-liquid you need to take off the mouthpiece and pour the juice through one of the two slots. Maximum capacity is 2.0ml and we recommend either 12mg freebase e-juice or 25mg nicotine salts for best results.

These pods use 1.5 Ohm ceramic atomizers and they have a long lifespan. The break-in period however is of about 1.5 - 2.0ml of juice, so expect much better flavor from the second refill.

Performance and overall thoughts on the Perl Pod kit

Perl Pod starter kit is a very sexy looking vaporizer intended for nicotine salts and freebase e-liquids. It’s powered by a generous 1150 battery and features ceramic coils with long lifespan. The device is easy to use, easy to refill and the button less design is very elegant.

When it comes to performance, we can’t say we are such big fans of the very-very tight draw. Vapor production isn't that amazing from a device this big, but the flavor is on par. We would have loved a bit more airflow, however it’s still great for beginners.
